UKISUG Connect 2018 - what the media said

Published on

This year’s conference marked the 30th anniversary of the UK and Ireland SAP User Group, and once again we had an incredibly successful event.

Across three days at the ICC in Birmingham, a record 75 exhibitors interacted with almost 600 SAP customers in over 100 sessions designed to help SAP users influence their organisations and SAP itself. The event was well-covered by the attending media, focusing on key issues such as S/4HANA adoption and indirect access.

Before the keynotes started on the Monday the news broke that SAP was to acquire experience management company, Qualtrics. The news was quickly picked up by the likes of Computing, ComputerWorld UK and The Register.

UKISUG Chairman Paul Cooper, shared some of the results from our annual member survey looking at SAP product adoption, IoT and users concerns about Brexit.

ComputerWeekly, CBR and ComputerWorld UK covered the main points from the survey, focusing on the increase in S/4HANA awareness, as well as the need for education around newer products like C/4HANA. diginomica also covered the findings from the member survey, but reported on the need for scrutiny over lingering SAP indirect licensing issues. The Register picked up on licensing too, mentioning UKISUG’s continued work with SUGEN to improve clarity for users. Meanwhile, Computing also covered Paul’s keynote, focusing on his call for SAP to give users more clarity on its plans for Brexit.

The attending media also had the chance to speak to SAP customers; ComputerWorld UK spoke to BUPA on how to adopt a self-serve BI solution and the Post Office on updating HR systems with SAP, offering excellent advice and lessons-learnt for users looking to undertake similar projects.

As we come to the end of the year, we are already making plans to support users as we move into 2019 and beyond – after all, it’s not long until preparations start for UKISUG Connect 2019!
