During TechEd Barcelona SAP made several announcements

SAP HANA Cloud Platform has new business services and key functions making it the agile cloud innovation platform for enterprises worldwide.

The new features include support for virtual machines, prebuilt Ariba cloud integrations, beta versions of workflow and business rules services as well as smart data streaming for high speed IoT scenarios, enabling enterprises to bridge on-premise and cloud landscapes, extend existing technology investments to deliver channels such as mobile and IoT and drive new digital transformation initiatives.

Additionally, SAP announced it has reached the first milestones in its partnership with Apple with the delivery of early adopter programs for the new SAP HANA Cloud Platform SDK for iOS and SAP Academy for iOS.

SAP’s Open Microservices Architecture Ushers in the API Economy

SAP is announcing the availability in Germany of its microservices platform SAP® Hybris® as a Service (Availability will follow in other markets, including the Asia Pacific region in 2017).

SAP Hybris as a Service enables businesses to buy highly specialized services for specific tasks, such as simple e-commerce checkout, or local tax calculation.

It provides a framework for development, management, and billing to help businesses rapidly augment and enhance their existing solutions with microservices and software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications.

Businesses can rely on SAP Hybris as a Service as a one-stop shop to discover, connect, subscribe to and manage microservices. With them, they can embed their business into an ecosystem – or transform themselves into a business platform.

SAP Unveils SAP HANA 2

SAP HANA 2 includes and extends the proven technology from the first release of SAP’s breakthrough in-memory platform to provide a new foundation for digital transformation.

Key new features and enhancements include: Database Management, Data Management, Analytical Intelligence and Application Development.

As an innovation platform, SAP HANA 2 will deliver technology enhancements twice a year to support agile IT.

SAP HANA 2 is planned to be released to customers on November 30, 2016. The express edition of SAP HANA 2 will be available for delivery shortly after general availability to help organizations jump-start new development projects.

New SAP HANA microservices in the cloud are available via SAP Hybris as a Service (YaaS) to spur developer innovation by embedding richer insight into modern applications.

Earth Observation Service powered by SAP HANA Taps Massive ESA Satellite Data to Provide New Insight

In cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), SAP announces the Earth Observation Analysis service, a cloud service powered by SAP HANA®. Powered by SAP HANA in the cloud, the Earth Observation Analysis service provides a standardized interface for quick, easy consumption of detailed analytics and clusters them according to customer needs.

Companies in all industries and government agencies spanning from the insurance and reinsurance industries to mill and mining, utilities, or retail can leverage the application programming interface (API) delivered via the Earth Observation Analysis service.

At SAP TechEd Barcelona, reinsurance company Munich Re showcased its use of the Earth Observation Analysis service to gain insights and predict potential future impact from historic and current data.

Initiated by the SAP Center for Digital Leadership, the partnership with ESA strengthens Europe’s position in IoT and Space 4.0 and future potential for business and commercialization opportunities.

SAP Helps Customers Drive Digital Transformation with Modern Analytics On Premise and in the Cloud

SAP announced new features and capabilities that are now available across the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio of cloud and on-premise solutions. SAP BusinessObjects Cloud is now available for purchase via a credit card in 34 countries at SAPStore.com through a simple checkout process.

New enhancements in SAP BusinessObjects Cloud include data wrangling capabilities taking advantage of embedded machine learning to provide data profiling, error detection, and recommended visualizations. Live connectivity to SAP S/4HANA is now available.

SAP plans to enable organizations to interact with data using SAP Digital Boardroom and Microsoft Surface Hub by providing an interactive display of Digital Boardroom content within the collaborative, touchscreen device.

SAP BusinessObjects Roambi® is now available globally in 25 countries around the world.

SAP continues to innovate the core analytics technology with updates to SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) and planned enhancements for SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics.
