Important Information for Customers running ERP ECC CRM SRM or GTS

Published on

Please see an important message from SAP (also attached):

As a result of a pending legal matter in the United States, SAP has developed system changes for SAP ERP, CRM, SRM and GTS that disable the Hierarchical Access (HA) functionality for pricing and pricing-related functionality.

Application of these changes is mandatory for all SAP maintenance customers running the solutions listed above.  The changes must be applied to all installations located in the United States and all installations with users located in the United States.   Please review SAP Note 1600482 for further information. Please feel free to forward this message to the appropriate recipient within your organisation.

You must complete these changes, as outlined below, by 31st May 2013 in order to ensure seamless and continuous SAP maintenance coverage.  If a customer has not completed the necessary actions by this date, when SAP anticipates the legal ruling in this case, there is a possibility that an adverse ruling might interrupt SAP maintenance coverage until the customer completes the actions.

The actions required from you depend on your ties to the United States and usage of the HA functionality as illustrated below:

Option 1
Installations or users located in the United States? No
Using the HA functionality? No
Actions needed:
Certify “Exemption on Service Marketplace

Option 2
Installations or users located in the United States? No
Using the HA functionality? Yes
Actions needed:
1. Open a message in XX-PROJ-IMS-HA to obtain a Pilot Note to re-instate the HA functionality
2. Certify “Exemption on Service Marketplace

Option 3
Installations or users located in the United States? Yes
Using the HA functionality? No
Actions needed:
1. Disable the HA functionality
2. Certify “Compliance on Service Marketplace

Option 4
Installations or users located in the United States? Yes
Using the HA functionality? Yes
Actions needed:
1. Open a message in XX-PROJ-IMS-HA so SAP can help migrate to Standard Access with no loss of functionality
2. Disable the HA functionality
3. Certify “Compliance on Service Marketplace

You can determine whether you are using the HA functionality by running a check report referenced in SAP Note 1600482.

You can disable the HA functionality manually by application of an SAP Note, or by upgrading to one of the newer Support Packs which removes the functionality.  The Notes and Support Packs to accomplish this are listed in SAP Note 1600482.

If you are using the HA functionality and have installations or users located in the United States, you can open a message in component XX-PROJ-IMS-HA and SAP can assist you in migrating to Standard Access to ensure that your SAP solution continues to meet your needs.

The certification process for both Exemptions and Compliance can be completed here.
