Chairman's Note
I hope you have all had the opportunity to enjoy sometime away from your desks and enjoy the amazing weather this summer. Traditionally August is a quiet month from an events perspective for UKISUG, but behind the scenes our team in Teesside have been busy preparing our autumn schedule of events and of course working on our flagship event the UKISUG Connect Conference in late November.
In September we will be hosting a Journey to S/4HANA Symposium in London. The theme for this event is ‘Your Journey to S/4HANA’, it presents you with a great opportunity to meet and hear from other customers, meet partners who are helping our members drive successful outcomes to their S4 programmes. Plus SAP will be talking about RISE and the move to the Cloud. |

At the end of July, your User Group headed down to Microsoft in London for our first face-to-face Women in SAP event. What a day it was, we heard from some phenomenal women who shared their experiences and challenges, as well as hearing from allies and the importance of allyship in the workplace. The response has been amazing, and we can’t wait to see this community grow from strength to strength.
Preparation for UKISUG Connect is also well underway, our streams have been finalised and we’re putting the final touches together with your help, of course. Keep your eyes out for more of the programme launching soon. Remember, if you’d like to share your SAP experiences, challenges and successes at one of our events or at UKISUG Connect don’t hesitate to get in touch with Rachel from the Teesside Team.
Finally our annual photography competition closes at the end of September, so get out and go take some pictures over the next few weeks, pick your best and enter to win some great prizes! We can’t wait to see you all soon, at any of our upcoming events. Thank you for continuously supporting your UKISUG community! Paul Cooper Chairman UK & Ireland SAP User Group |

RISE with SAP & Cloud Transformation
SAP customers face the challenges of rapidly increasing complexity and cost, which must be considered and addressed if organisations are to remain in control, compliant and on budget. These challenges are driven by the required migration to S/4HANA by 2030 and migrating to new cloud solutions, these are major technical considerations, with both commercial and contractual implications that must be carefully planned and managed. SAP has some of the most complex pricing and commercial contracts in the industry, all dependent upon a range of variables including an organisation’s named users, industry solutions, engines and of course the new digital access model. With audits increasing, rapidly changing demand for new services and an “all-in” contract approach, RISE with SAP, many organisations now face unplanned expenditure and potentially unfavourable commercial terms if negotiations are not managed correctly.
Many organisations enter SAP contract negotiations late in the process and badly prepared, only to find their costs have drastically increased. This can often be attributed to poor underlying usage data, heavy discounts previously enjoyed on licensing subscriptions and cloud services, and new list pricing. It has never been more important to have access to specialist expertise to navigate this landscape.
Whilst Livingstone supports clients with all the complicated SAP licence requirements – optimization, audits, digital access and S/4HANA migrations, SAP’s focus is RISE with SAP and our Cloud Transformation White Paper addresses challenges and outlines recommendations and our support process.
