Welcome to your August News
Chairman's Note
Welcome to our August newsletter, I hope that you have managed to get some time away from work at some point during the summer. The schools have already started to return in Scotland and it is not long until we reach September. Traditionally at this point, we would be launching our Autumn schedule of events and be looking forward to opportunities to meet-up and network at our face to face events.
Over the last couple of months, Craig and his team have taken feedback from our members, volunteers, the partner community and SAP and due to the continuing uncertainty caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, we have taken the decision not to organise any ‘face to face’ events this autumn. Sadly, this means that the 2020 UKISUG Connect Conference due to be held at the start of December will be postponed this year. We explored a number of ways that we could host our showcase event but the well-being of our employees, volunteers and stakeholders is of paramount importance to us. Rest assured we will be back next year in Birmingham with an even bigger and better event than last time ... oh and the road works around the venue might have finished by then!
On a more positive note! I am pleased to announce that we will be shortly launching our Autumn Digital Showcase…there will be a range of events including an extensive range of webinars, a two day developers workshop, plus three virtual Symposiums. In addition as part of the Digital Showcase we will also have launch events for the Whitepapers we have been working on this summer – the Journey to 2027 and SAP Skills. You will shortly receive some communication about the Digital Showcase, please take a look at what is on offer and get your places booked.
Our first two Symposiums will be held in September (Analytics) and October (Data), work is ongoing for the final one later this year (I have had a sneak preview of the theme and content and it looks great so watch this space for more details!). We will be using a new platform for the Symposiums which will include a range of speakers, breakout sessions, a virtual exhibition and the opportunity to network!
For all you photography enthusiasts we are midway through this years UKISUG Photography Competition, as ever there have been some amazing entries. There are some great prizes on offer and most importantly the opportunity to feature in the 2021 UKISUG calendar.
Enjoy what remains of the summer, stay safe and keep washing your hands!

All sessions aim to boost professional development with several opportunities to accrue CPD hours. The showcase will run from September to December, with events covering the entire SAP spectrum. Take a look at what is already confirmed... SEPTEMBER 3rd: Conversational AI Workshop 11th: Enterprise Architect Event 16th: Ireland Roundtable 22nd: Analytics Symposium OCTOBER 7th: SuccessFactors Event 19th&20th: ABAP Developers Event 21st: Irish HR & Payroll 29th: Data Symposium Financial resiliency and agility is a critical requirement for many organisations given the current disruption and how organisations will recover from the current pandemic as well as other disruptors such as supply chain challenges, legal and trade challenges. The need to be agile in Accounts Payable processes such as Procure to pay and order-to-cash has enabled OpenText to dramatically increase the scope and capabilities of our Invoice Management solution to move far beyond processing invoices and support any and all documents related to finance processing. This includes key documents such as Order Confirmation, Delivery Notes, Quotation, Sales Orders, Remittance advices as well as the flexibility to add any other document type via configuration. We’ve also leveraged machine learning methods to improve our capture solutions as studies show that up to 80% of all incoming finance documents are still paper based.
With these new capabilities and enhancements, not to mention our other solutions such as Archiving and Extended ECM we can enable organisations to become more agile, dramatically increase automation of incoming information as well as supporting the wider finance capabilities offered in the SAP Ecosystem.
OpenText have joined forces with Deloitte and SAP to host a webinar around transforming procurements and finance processing within and beyond the enterprise. In our webinar we will share how Deloitte, SAP and OpenText are working together to recognise and address challenges with leading-edge digital innovations that support procurement and finance teams. Please do join us in the 10th September to find out more.. Could you showcase your SAP knowledge, challenges or stories and be a part of the huge UKISUG events programme? Is there an SAP-related topic that particularly interests you?
All UKISUG members have a unique SAP story to share - whether it's how you use your systems on a day-to-day basis, implementation strategies or challenges you've overcome. Why not share them with the UKISUG member base? Members are always looking to hear more about their peers’ experiences and there are so many benefits to having your name on the programme…
Is there an SAP topic you would like to present on? We will help you through all aspects of preparation, and if we like the look of your proposal you will be invited to a complimentary speaker training workshop!
The full professional session is offered at absolutely no cost to you, to both build your confidence and ensure you’re fully equipped to present online. With our Scripting and Storytelling Masterclass, learn how to increase your personal influence and make ideas happen through the art of scripting and storytelling.
Included in our speaker package is a free pass to UKISUG Connect, with a preferential rate for the rest of your organisation to attend. Not to mention the priceless increased visibility within the SAP community and vastly improved networking possibilities. Our 2020 Photography Competition is now open for entries! This year, we have decided to theme our calendar around seasons. From quick mobile snaps of your Christmassy festivities, to perfectly timed portraits in the Summer heat – the only limit is your imagination!
We are looking for 12 winning entries to display in our UKISUG 2021 Calendar. All 12 winners will receive a print of their entry and each season will have 1 winning entry that will receive a £250 gift voucher. There will then be an overall winner, who receives an extra £250 voucher.
