Well the clocks have changed, the daffodils are open so we are probably through the worst of winter and getting ready for those long summer days… Hopefully with a bit less rain than we have suffered for the past couple of months!
This newsletter marks the end of my time as Chair of UKISUG, I took over from Philip Adams seven years ago and was only expecting to serve two years as your Chair… I have to say it's been an absolute pleasure and privilege to lead the board of your independent user group. We have an amazing group of volunteers and support from our team in Teesside, dedicated to making this a welcoming community for all professionals in the SAP ecosystem, all of whom it is an honour to work alongside.
At the start of my tenure, it looked like I would be the Brexit Chair, then in early 2020 I became the Covid Chair! As I step back I believe that we are a much stronger organisation, we are focused on our mission and values and importantly growing and developing a vibrant SAP community in the UK and Ireland. But there is still much to do, to further develop our Academy, the line of business, Women in SAP and Sustainability communities in the years to come. I am sure Conor will be an excellent new Chair and lead our journey.
Finally thank you to our volunteers, the board, Craig and the whole Teesside Team for all your support and commitment to UKISUG! Over to you Conor…. |

| I am delighted to take over as UKISUG Chair after a phenomenal 7 years at the helm by Paul.
The migration to Cloud ERP combined with the use of large language models integrated with ERP operational data will dominate the SAP landscape for the next number of years. AI and Cloud ERP is the direction of travel for SAP. It is truly a disruptive time for organisations as they plot their ERP strategies from on prem ECC to the new paradigm.
I want UKISUG to be a key resource for all its members in helping navigate this journey. Together we will have experience to support our members, share our stories and provide valued feedback to SAP. I am looking forward to the next 2 years as Chair, working with the board, the Teesside team, the volunteers and meeting as many members as possible as we work together to simplify our path to the cloud. Regards Conor |

| The Future of Compatibility Packs in SAP S/4HANA - 'BE AWARE: Compatibility packs not extended beyond 2025' |
|

Your boss has played with ChatGPT for the first time. He has also learned about how Generative AI is revolutionizing business processes in your industry. Now, he has come to your desk and asked when you will integrate this technology into your system landscape. He is eager to know when, in the coming weeks, he will be able to use it to address his most pressing questions. Left scratching your head, you wonder what to do next... Does this scenario sound familiar?
In this blog, I aim to provide you with some of the foundational elements necessary to harness the power of Business AI in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system. This way, you'll be prepared to respond to your boss's questions with a well-thought-out plan. My intention is to give you a sense of what is possible with these technologies. I invite you to read and comment as I offer recommendations to prepare you for adopting Business AI in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system.
Generative AI alone won't be able to unlock the full transformational potential in your current business operations if it isn't combined with other intelligent technologies already available in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) as a business enabler. If you’re reading this blog post then you’re probably in the process of working out your path to SAP S/4HANA. You’ve probably also learned that some of the features that you use today come from SAP ERP – and are therefore provided to you as a compatibility pack.
But what are compatibility packs? They were originally introduced as a way to unite multi-year development cycles at SAP with multi-year adoption strategies at our customers. Over time, we want to provide alternatives to the capabilities that are currently provided as part of these compatibility packs. In fact, many alternatives already exist or are already included on our development roadmap.
While SAP recently announced the maintenance extension for SAP Business Suite 7 until the end of 2027, the usage rights of the compatibility packs were not included in this extension and a couple of questions came up about why and how to deal with it.
Compatibility packs not extended beyond 2025: So, what’s next? Click the below button to read the full blog |

Extend your SAP processes to Microsoft Teams Across thousands of enterprises of every size, most users now ‘live’ in Microsoft Teams. It has become the standard place for people to communicate and collaborate, and is increasingly the tool to which people turn first in order to get work done.
As a result, it is becoming more important for organisations to find ways to bring information and work into Teams: It is sensible to bring work to your employees rather than for them to find it in one or many Inboxes.
You can now extend your SAP processes into Teams, using Looply, the new integration platform for SAP and MS Teams. Using Looply, notifications can be sent to users through Teams chat, and managers can take approval/rejection decisions without leaving Teams. Integrating SAP processes to Microsoft Teams can lead to a range of benefits, such as: - Accelerated processes. Users take action immediately instead of checking Inboxes for work, so the process keeps moving.
- Process transparency. Users can see the current status of their requests and be informed immediately when an approval or rejection action has taken place.
-
Greater user engagement. The Teams interface is easy to use, particularly for users who don’t spend hours of the day in SAP.
Looply is set to transform the way organizations manage internal communication processes by integrating more enterprise systems with Microsoft Teams. |
